Critical thinking and media literacy, fact checking

This module is designed to help and guide participants and educators to reflect about climate change through an education grounded in critical analyses of information displayed in the media.

Goal of the course

We look at three important concepts that should be part of the toolkit for those who wish to deal with the possibility of disinformation in the media: Critical Thinking (CT); Media Literacy (ML); and Fact Checking (FC).
The goal is to introduce these three concepts, to show how they converge and how they can be used to make citizens more resilient to the information that is directed towards them.

By the end of this module, learners are expected to:

Understand the concepts of CT, ML and FC

Identify the key components of CT, ML and FC

Explore some of the tools and techniques of CT, ML and FC
