Introduction to Global Education
This module will introduce you to ideas, concepts and reflections on Global Education, and it will recommend some guidelines for integrating it into your work and your daily life.
Goal of the module
When we talk about Global Education, the debate can quickly get complicated. As you will discover after completing this module, there are different definitions for Global Education. But do not panic, it is not too complicated and you may already have used Global Education approach in your work with young people.
The learning objectives of this module are:
Rethink common thinking patterns and worldviews, and understand why we should consider perspectives, views, and interpretations of the world that are different to ours;
Recognise the need for a Global Education approach when working with young people;
Become familiar with the various definitions of Global Education;
Learn some practical examples (GE methods) of how to implement Global Education in the classroom;
Distinguish between soft and critical approaches to Global Education;
Reflect on your thoughts and attitudes concerning necessary changes in our society.
